Tomasinong Kapampangan: Alumni Basketball League Champions

By Office of Alumni Relations     13-Jul-2018

TOMASINONG KAPAMPANGAN BASKETBALL TEAM

It all started when the One La Salle Alumni Association Inc. (OLSAAI) started a basketball league to further promote their association.

Initially, the league was opened for alumni associations of the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) and NCAA (University Athletic Association of the Philippines); however, since it was still new, the OLSAAI accepted local basketball teams.

For their first playing year, the association and organizers have successfully recruited basketball teams from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, Holy Angel University Employee Association and Holy Family Batch '97 alumni.

UST Kapampangan Basketball Team

Created for the purpose of joining the basketball league of OLSAAI, the first to be asked to spearhead and manage the formation of the team was Mr. Alvin Doy a Tourism alumnus; unfortunately, he only knows a few alumni who can be part of the team.

Fortunately, Jay Christopher Tongol heard about the news and was able to use his connections to find other UST alumni who were able and available to play.

Through the joint efforts of everyone involved, they have gathered 22 players: Jay Christopher Tongol, Neeco Baracao, Gerald Torres, Michael Tia, Bryan Romy David, Fullerdean Ducut, Herbert Aldana, Alvin Bendoy, Arvin Talabucon, Ace Sicat, Vicente Tuazon, Florentino Mercado Jr., Vincent Vitug, Russel Ducut, John Carlo Lim, Ceasar Gabriel Munoz, Florenze Dumandan, Chino Tayag, Rod Matthew Dela Paz, Carlo Jesus Magat, Jethroe Cunanan, BJ Medina, Patrick Joseph Galardo and Yvan Bryan Yus.

Their hardwork and teamwork have given glory to their team and their supporters as they emerged as the champion of the league-facing the team of the organizers themselves in a grueling two-game final.

The team performed well enough to bag two spots from the mythical five-Ace Sicat and Florence Dumandan-and to bring home the Most Valuable Player award-Florence Dumandan.

The team is now preparing for the next basketball season and is knocking on your kind hearts for any type of support you may offer.

For more information, you may contact their coach, Mr. Alvin Doy at 09274319198 or you may message him on his Facebook account.
