Tourism and HRM Class of 1986 celebrates golden jubilee anniversary through OAR's Online TALK

By Office of Alumni Relations     29-Sep-2020

The Office of Alumni Relations aired its pilot reunion livestream under the Online Thomasian Alumni Libangan at Kwentuhan (TALK) series last September 25, 2020 on the OAR Facebook page. In partnership with the UST Tourism & Hospitality Management Alumni Association, Inc. (USTTHMAAI), the first purely virtual get-together titled "Thank God It's Friday for Batch 1986!" was dedicated to the Golden Jubilarians of the college.

Present also in the event was OAR Director Asst. Prof. Fredeswindo R. Medina, MACHs, USTTHMAAI Organization Adviser Assoc. Prof. Evangeline E. Timbang, MBA, and the officers of the alumni association.

Association president Jerrold Gacula sincerely welcomed the pioneer batch of the college with open arms. He introduced himself and the officers of the association who work tirelessly to make this celebration possible.

Gacula promised that the Board will do their best to give the jubilarians an unforgettable face-to-face homecoming in the future. He wished them well and hoped to see them again on their coral jubilee anniversary.

Then, Asst. Prof. Medina presented 2 videos to introduce OAR to the jubilarians. The first video encouraged them to sign-up on the alumni database while the last was a report of activities that the office organized and collaborated on in the past few months. He then showed their ongoing and future projects and activities which the jubilarians are very welcome to join and participate in to enrich more connections and activeness among the Thomasian community.

Before the short program ends, the floor was given to Assoc. Prof. Timbang whom they've called "The Queen" because of her dedication, significant contributions, and long tenure in their college. She praised the jubilarians' achievements throughout the years. They have done enough for UST to be proud of them. "We are into another chapter in our lives. It's not about retiring, but going to a new phase in our lives," added Assoc. Prof. Timbang. For her, now is the best moment to communicate more with each other. It's a perfect time to look back to the past, reflect on how they have spent the years since they have graduated, and how they have been the Thomasian alumni that they were expected to be. She's happy and excited to join them as they enter the next phase of their golden years where they would be returning the favor back to the society that's been looking up to them for guidance and wisdom. After the empowering message of the Queen, the program closed with a prayer led by Gacula and the UST Hymn.
