By Office of Alumni Relations     08-Jul-2023

The UST Atelier Alumni Association, Inc. (USTAAAI), the official UST CFAD alumni group, staged the second installment of its Vision project series titled "Vision: Insight" starting from July 8 to July 23 at the ArtistSpace, Ayala Museum Annex, Makati City.

Top Thomasian visual artists joined the group exhibit namely Manny Baldemor, Andres Barrioquinto, Remy Boquiren, Richard Buxani, Salvador Ching, Fil Delacruz, Anita del Rosario, Edgar Doctor, Elmer Dumlao, Jun Impas, Raul Isidro, Edgar Lantin, Justin Nuyda, Ramon Orlina, Marcelino Rodriguez, and Dominic Rubio. The exhibit was curated by prolific painter and printmaker Janos Delacruz.

Present in the opening and ribbon-cutting event was Hon. Grace Poe-Llamanzares as the guest-of-honor.

"Art always appreciates not just in value but in memories and history," said Poe in her welcoming remarks. The senator, who was exposed to the arts at a young age, pointed out its importance in showcasing the story of one's country through museums and exhibits. She encouraged the patrons and guests to invest in arts for its perpetuity.

Spearheaded by USTAAAI President Marissa Pe Yang, the association continues its commitment in promoting and supporting Thomasian artists and all their artistic endeavors. Through Atelier's projects such as the recently concluded Outstanding Atelier Alumni Honours and Vision series, Pe Yang aims to inspire and aspire fellow Thomasian art professionals and students to follow their own creative journey.

Vision series started in 2021 to provide an avenue and platform for Thomasian artists during the pandemic. The success of the first exhibit brought the continuation of the series. The third installment called "Vision: Propel" is set to launch this August 2023 at the Art Anton Gallery, Pasay City.
