In a celebration of their roots and values, the College of Commerce
Alumni Foundation Inc. (COCAFI) welcomed their alumni home with a night of
solemn festivity last February 3.
The program itself was kept intimate, quiet and short by everyone
present, choosing instead to focus on remembering their beginnings, the people
from their past and present and admiring the beauty of the university in its
current glory.
COCAFI also invited Ms. Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, a motivational speaker who
spoke of her childhood and her struggles as she slowly but surely made her way
to the top with the help of all the alumni who, with their great generosity,
untiringly gave her all the support she needed.
Furthermore, Fernandez-Ruiz encouraged and inspired everyone present to
continue with their unfaltering support not only to the association but also to
all the students who they undoubtedly helped with their magnanimity.
The association then presented 2017?s Most Outstanding Commerce Alumni: Allan B. Gepty (batch 1992) in the field of law and judiciary, Eduardo F. Nepomuceno (batch 1974) in the field of public service, and Nina Solomon (batch 1982) in the field of finance.
They also recognized and honoured all the jubilarians?silver, pearl,
ruby, golden and diamond?who were present and who made the event possible.
The night was closed with a heartfelt remark by Ms. Lourdes V. Obillo,
the vice president of the association.
