Civil Engineering alumni group donates multi-purpose hall to Porac school

With the support of the UST Engineering Alumni Association, Inc. (USTEAAI), the UST Civil Engineering Alumni Association (USTCEAA) turned over its sponsored multi-purpose hall to the Villa Maria Integrated School in Porac, Pampanga, last August 6, 2024.

The ceremony began with a Thanksgiving Mass and blessing of the hall presided by Rev. Fr. Regnel C. Fuertez. VMIS School Head Emmanuel B. Gomez welcomed the guests and extended his gratitude to the people and organizations involved in completing the covered court project.


During his speech, UST Simbahayan Community Development Office Director Asst. Froilan A. Alipao, MCD, shared that the collaboration began when USTEAAI participated in their office's Pamaskong Handog program in December 2023. The engineers noticed the inadequacies in the structure of the school's covered court, such as the cracked stage caused by an earthquake and the short roofing's failure to protect most people from heat and rain.


USTCEAA President Engr. Agnes Pabillo added to the story that USTEAAI, their mother alumni unit, gave them funds and a tall order to help the school with their expertise. Their association went to work right away for the construction and was able to complete the project 5 months after their first ocular visit in February. The multi-purpose hall is now fully functional with roofing built to last 3-4 decades, a stage equipped with pin lights, and more students, teachers, and parents to accommodate during breaks and events.


The construction project was headed by USTCEAA member and Archipelago Builders Corporation President Engr. John Paul Pe. He also donated a chapel at the UST Dr. Tony Tan Caktiong Innovation Center in UST Santa Rosa last June 21, 2024 as part of USTEAAI's gifts to the Laguna campus.
