In celebration of the Feast of Eid al-Fitr and the Inauguration of UST General Santos, the University through the Office of Alumni Relations collaborated with Tomasinong SOCCSKSARGEN to organize a community gift-giving and feeding program in Barangay Batomelong, General Santos City on April 10, 2024.
Over 150 families received grocery packs and hygiene kits. The children in each household were given vitamins and candies as treats.
With
the warm welcome of the residents of Batomelong, UST Secretary-General Rev. Fr.
Louie R. Coronel, O.P., EHL returned the gesture by introducing the university
to the barangay. Then, UST Assistant to the Rector for General Santos Professor
Emeritus Maribel G. Nonato, PhD expressed that the university can be of service
to Mindanaoans in terms of scholarships, community service, and research.
The
gathering was concluded with a feeding program where University officials,
employees, and alumni association officers joined the community for a morning
snack.
