Our History

The office was created during the Rectorship of Rev. Fr. Ernesto M. Arceo O.P. in 2007 as a separate office from the then Public and Alumni Affairs Office. The OAR exists to unify and strengthen generations of competent and compassionate Thomasians committed to the service of the Church, the nation and the global community.

Our Identity

The UST Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) is the major arm of the University of Santo Tomas in forging and sustaining the University’s ties with its alumni—unifying and strengthening generations of competent and compassionate Thomasians committed to the service of the Church, the nation and the global community.

Our Vision

An empowered UST Office of Alumni Relations—transformational, engaging, inclusive, inspiring—nurturing the meaningful participation of the alumni community alongside the pursuits of the University’s Vision and Mission.

Our Mission

Upholding the Thomasian identity: Competent, Committed and Compassionate, the UST Office of Alumni Relations aspires to inspire, engage, enrich and nurture the significant and inclusive participation of the alumni community in the attainment of the University’s lofty goals towards academic excellence, spiritual and moral transformation of the entire Thomasian community.

Our Core Values (DIRECTIONS)

Inspired by the University’s core values of competence, compassion and commitment, the OAR is also guided by virtues of:

1. Diversity:

We value and respect a diverse Thomasian community where individuals are recognized, accepted, and embraced for their humanity and unique characteristics. These characteristics include, but are not limited to: age, condition of physical and mental ability, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic origin, marital status, parental status, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic condition, work experience, and cultural, political, and spiritual belief, practice, and tradition. Every member of our office contributes to the diversity and richness of our culture and to our overall success as an organization.

We will engage the Thomasian alumni and families worldwide in meaningful ways through ongoing communications and activities like promotion, recruitment and admission process in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of the University.

We will enhance and maintain our relevance to the Thomasian alumni by engaging them to our various programs supported by research studies that will serve their needs and strengthen their connection to the University.

4. Excellence

We strive for excellence in all our programs and services. We design innovative activities and events to provide our alumni with a new level of experience with a limited budget.

5. Collaboration:

We strive to be recognized as a leader in collaborative practices and attitudes. We approach our collaborations with compassion, empathy, and trust.

6. Teamwork:

We value and respect our Thomasian family: staff, faculty, students, alumni, donors and suppliers who collaborate and encourage successful teamwork.

7. Integrity:

We will conduct ourselves with professionalism and integrity at all times. We have an obligation to reinforce through our words and actions the principles of honesty, integrity and trust which form the basis for long term relationships and engagement with the Thomasian alumni.
