The UST Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) will hold its second alumni fund-raising golf tournament this July 31, after a successful premier last year.

Rector’s Cup 2, which will be held at Sta. Elena Golf and Country Estate in Laguna, aims to raise a generous amount in support of the Thomasian athletes for the 80th Season of the UAAP.

In the recently concluded UAAP Season 79, UST won the UAAP General Championship—the goal of the first Rector’s Cup wherein almost P7 million was raised.

For the upcoming Rector’s Cup 2, the OAR aims to double the amount of financial support for the athletes in order to provide them with the extensive training and necessary expenses they need to further improve their performances in their respective sporting events.

With Rector’s Cup 2, the OAR does not only aim to help in defending the UAAP General Championship crown but also in winning major games, such as the basketball and volleyball tournaments.

Last year, the first Rector’s Cup gathered 138 participants, with the team of College of Science winning the championship.

Apart from raising additional funds for the Thomasian athletes, the golf tournament is also a way for the alumni to come together in an unconventional gathering other than the usual yearly alumni homecoming events.

As Rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy, O.P. said during the first Rector’s Cup, “This is an avenue where [the] alumni can gather not in a formal set-up, like homecoming [celebrations] and conferences, but on something they love and enjoy.”

There are a lot in store for those who will participate in Rector’s Cup 2. Raffle prizes, including photos of UST alumnus Paul Quiambao, paintings and sculptures of Thomasian alumni artists, and other UST premium items, will be given away.

All Thomasian alumni are invited to join. Registration costs P5,000. For more details about the event, you may contact the OAR at 406-1611 local 8556.

Let us help our dear Thomasian athletes bring glory and pride to our beloved University. See you there!
